Citizens for Safe Farming, Inc., (CFSF) is a non-profit organization corporation comprised of over 60 concerned families in Charlotte, Vermont. Our aim is to advance a responsible balance between agriculture and housing. CFSF hope to prevent contamination of our streams and groundwater and the impairment of our air quality by poorly located large farming operations (LFOs).

We initially formed CFSF to generate public awareness regarding a pending application by Hinsdale Farms for a LFO permit in the Bingham Brook Valley in Charlotte. Over the past two years our group has focused its activities on scientific testing and has filed legal challenges to aspects of the Hinsdale Farms original applications for the site. CFSF would like the Hinsdales to work with us, and with the entire community, to establish appropriate farming limits and safeguards in order to build a safe farm in the Bingham Brook Valley.  We are currently working to continue negotiations with Hinsdale Farms and will keep you posted on our progress though this site.
